There’s plenty of things available to make life easier for new Mums & Dads, from useful time saving devices,  To things that help baby be more comfortable or sleep better.

Many of these useful products would make an ideal gift for a new baby.  In fact when Zachary was born we got asked almost everyday for the first week what we wanted as a baby gift.  With a new baby taking over your routine and brain power it’s hard to think.

Zach got pretty much everything he needed at the time but there’s still some things we had or still have to pick up from the shops.

So the last few days were bad days for babies everywhere, including our little Zachary.  The heat during the last few days has really knocked him for six and he’s spent most of the last few days awake and only sleeping when the evening coolness comes.

Today however he’s been a lot happier. I dunno if it’s because he’s just gotten so tired from not sleeping properly the last few days. Or because finally the wind has gotten up a bit and the humid clammy air has been able to move around a bit more.

Whatever the reason, Zach’s much happier today and has slept for a few hours at a time, and enjoyed been awake too.

Hopefully he’ll get used to the hot weather and just ride through the summer.

With the sudden extreme heat of summer, baby Zach is having a hard time getting some rest.  Like many other babies out there, he’s sleeping only for short periods,which is making for an extremely unhappy baby.

Right now he’s getting some rest in my arms while Vix grabs a couple of hours till the next feed.  But overall today has been a nightmare for poor little Zach.  He’s tried to sleep to the point he got beyond tired.  When he finally slept it was only for around 20 - 30 mins at a time.   Poor little dude didn’t know what was going on. When Vix first started breastfeeding Zachary everything was going fine until after a couple of days her nipples started to get sore and a bit cracked.   She really wanted to continue breastfeeding so that the milk for Zach would be sufficient and flowing correctly for him.

The midwife came round the next day and Vikki asked her if there was anything to reduce the soreness so that feeding could continue.  She immediately recommended Lansinoh which can be bought from most pharmacies,supermarkets, etc.
