The time has come to do the thing that just about every computer user in the world hates to do.  Yep that’s right. It’s reinstall day. It’s more than a year since i reinstalled windows on this laptop, and as i use it everyday for hours on end. Its probably a good idea to keep it fresh. (Plus it keeps crashing when its doing simple things.)

It took 6 hours of yesterday evening to backup all the files i didn’t want to lose. Now it’s taking 30 mins to send them all to the other pc in a rar file.  Luckily i’ve done many reinstalls so i knewwhat i needed to backup and what i didn’t. The dreaded part comes when halfway through the reinstall i think ‘Sh*t did i back up that really important file that i can’t get from anywhere else?’ Or ‘Oooops i forgot that web file i needed for that other site.’ These are both scenarios that have happened before. I just hope they don’t happen again today! (They shouldn’t I spent a great deal of time checking things to make sure I have gotten everything.)

Today is also the day to install Ubuntu on this machine too. Why? Well because i can and because i want to.  It’ll give me something else to do and learn and at least with the laptop being dual boot. I can still run my normal applications should i run into problems with Ubunt. (Which no doubt i will.)

As my fave game for the PS2 has become scratched from been played so much. I have more free time than usual. I may as well make good use of it. So here’s to hoping it all goes well and this laptop doesn’t explode in the process. (Hey it’s HP it just might blow up!).
