The other day i spoke about reinstalling windows on this crazy ass laptop by HP. The reinstall went fine. Took most of the day which of course wasn’t fine but in the end it was completed and running just fine. That is of course until later on the same day the laptop got infected with a nasty piece of malware/adware.

How it got in i aren’t a 100% sure.

The nasty ass malware/adware that decided to live inside the laptop was created by Outerinfo and Yazzle. Uninstalling it wasn’t even an option as everytime i tried it was replicating itself on the system. Eventually it made windows not even recognize its own files and crashed the system. Meaning that for the second time within 48 hours i was forced to reinstall the laptop just to get the compter into a useable state.

My anti-virus was going nuts every other second and internet explorer kept popping up taking me to sites i wasn’t interested in. (I don’t even use internet explorer, My choice of browser is of course Firefox.)

So i did a bit of checking into outerinfo and found something interesting. When i googled their domain name it threw up 2 results. The first was of course their domain name. The second was a how to uninstall page! I thought to myself “BINGO! This is just the page i needed” You’d of thought the same right? Wrong!

The page on how to uninstall this piece of malicious software that i didn’t ask for but decided to setup camp in my laptop anyway. Doesn’t exist! Yes thats right. Outerinfo are such a shady company that the how to uninstall page doesn’t load. Infact, their domain doesn’t load. Just a blank white page.(See edit at the end of this page)

There were a couple of sites that helped with ways on how to remove outerinfo. But by the time i had found them. This laptop was beyond repair and wasn’t even responding. So a full reinstall it was.

I wonder how a company that invades computers, forces popups and disassociates windows files to the point of unuseable is allowed to do business?

Outerinfo is a shady company with very shady standards in my opinion.

EDIT: The outerinfo site doesn’t load once you are infected with their software. But visiting them whilst not infected allows you to see the site. The How To Uninstall page does exist. But only when you have nothing to uninstall. once it’s on your system. You won’t be able to access the uninstaller (Which of course isn’t installed with the malware. It is a seperate file that must be downloaded form their site.)
