So today turned out to be a pretty bad day. Right from the get go, i knew i was in for trouble. Something in the air just didn’t smell right.
After falling out of bed first thing this morning. I did my usual thing of making sure the world hadn’t left me behind. Logging into control panels and checking stats etc. It wasn’t until i popped by this server i realized something was not going the way it should of been.
For a start, the site didn’t load. I thought it could of been my net connection (Honestly it sucks!) Usually at times like this, i try the ftp connection. It usually works too. But not today.
Today was the day the server decided to not respond to any magical mystical commands i gave it. FTP,http,pinging and just about everything else i could think of didn’t work. I had just one last solution to try and fix this.
I opened up the hosts site and scouted about looking for a contact email. Suddenly i found one. Although it didn’t do much good and the live support wasn’t around at 4am (That was their local time).
About an hour later and having brainstormed with Kattcool, i decided to look for another way to contact my host.
That was when suddenly i realized! The live chat logo had changed, there was actually someone there to respond! I couldn’t wait another minute and just had to hit the button. Sure as the sun rise, there it was. A person to talk to about my server woes. 
After explaining to the tech guy that i hadn’t done anything to my server. Infact i had only just woken up and found my server down. He told asked for my server IP and went about his business to fix it. It took a couple of hours, but it was fixed. The cause of the problem is still unknown, as Jason the tech guy says he couldn’t connect to the box at all. But he did manage to reboot it.
There was no data loss and i only had to wait for 2 hours for fsck to finish running. (I have no idea what the hell fsck is) Now, sure 2 hours seems like a long time, But to be honest i didn’t see it getting fixed for a good couple of hours. Especially with the time difference.
So if you visited today and wondered if i had fallen off the face of the earth. Rest assured, i haven’t. It was just a temp server problem.
