Amsterdam Holiday Just Got Closer! Day 1 Plans

Well another week and a bit has passed since i last mentioned we are going away. Which brings the date another week and a bit forward. (Woohoo).

In case you can’t tell. We can’t wait. Everyday we talk about the holiday and what we plan on doing when we get to Amsterdam. I think every minute of the trip is taken up with either activities, or sleeping.

Here’s a rough plan for how our Amsterdam Holiday will go on the First day:

After travelling across the sea in a giant floating metal box, we shall be on Dutch soil by about 9:30 am. After getting off the ferry, it’s a one hour drive to Amsterdam Centraal Station. Once here, the holiday truly begins.

First day - 10:30AM

Walk through Centraal Station grabbing something (pizza) to eat on the way through, Once we emerge from the other side, Amsterdam is facing us.

10:30 - 10:44

Spend this time wisely dodging trams

10:45AM

Head over to Route99 coffee shop whilst our friends head down to the Grasshopper. We’ll be picking up supplies from Route99 as the Grasshopper is expensive with not what i’d call great quality stock. After grabbing what we need from route99, we’ll probably head down to the Grasshopper to sit and have a drink with friends.

11:25 (Roughly)

Ok this is where the whole time scale thing goes outta the window. Time passes quickly in coffee shops and the weather isn’t always great. But with a bit of luck we’ll be outta the grasshopper and heading more towards Dam Square.

11:35 (Ish)

By this time we should be at Dam Square, after making it alive through the trams from hell. It’s time for a well deserved break, and a slice of pizza. Theres loads of coffee shops around this part of Amsterdam, so finding somewhere to sit and smoke will be no problem at all.

12:45 (Again , Roughly. All Times From This Point Are ‘Roughly’)

After chilling in the coffee shops for a while, we’ll probably need more pizza. Its dinner time after all so theres nothing wrong with that.

13:00

Pizza would of gone by this time, and we don’t check into the hotel for another hour. So we have two options. Option 1) Head towards the hotel and sit in the coffee shop over the road. Option 2) Chill in a coffee shop not too far away and watch the world go by for an hour. (Option 2 has a better chance of winning if i’m honest.)

14:05

Check into the Di Ann hotel, there’s four of us in total. Me and Vix. and My 2 friends who surprisingly, won’t be sharing a room with us. (They’ll be sharing with each other).

14:45

All checked into the hotel and bags sorted in our rooms. Depending on what everyone else has planned. 45 minutes should be long enough to relax, unpack a few things and get familiar with the area.

15:00

After having a shower and freshening up from the ferry crossing and the day trekking through Amsterdam with our suitcases, it’s time to hit the streets. Between Centraal Station and the hotel. There will no doubt be lots of places that either me Vix wants to see. Or my two other friends want to visit. So the next few hours will be spent doing just that.

18:00

This is probably massive pizza time. It’ll be later in the day and everyone will have the munchies, Possibly a stop at a restaurant. Or maybe just more pizza. Either way food will be involved at this time of day.

18:45

Look for a coffee shop thats not too busy and one which seems right for us. There’s so damn man yof them that one has just gotta be right. If in doubt, we’ll head for the red light district. Its always fun to ‘People watch’.

21:00

If our friends are still with us and not passed out, then we’ll probably move around the coffee shops or try and find kind of entertainment. Theres always something going on in Amsterdam after all. If however they are passed out. Then we might decide to visit a club or something similiar.

23:00

If by this time we aren’t in a club, Then we’ll probably be on our way home by now. The first is usually pretty tiring. But i think if we stick to something that resembles this plan of action. Then we’ll have a fun packed day .
