If your from England (Like i am) then you’ve almost definitely eaten good ‘ole Fish and Chips at one point or another. Not much is better than walking through the cold winter air and needing something warm to eat for when you get home. That’s why fish and chips are perfect!
But once you get them home…. How do you eat them?
There are a few ways people like to enjoy their fish and chip dinners,teas and suppers. Here’s some of the popular ones:
- Straight out the bag - Sit down unwrap and enjoy.
- Take them out of the paper - Take them outta the paper and put the contents on a (cold) plate.
- Put the paper on the plate - Theres just something about Fish and Chips in the paper.
- Heated plate - Some people put their plates in the oven before the chips even arrive. It helps keep them warm for longer.
Maybe you don’t stick to one of the above, but prefer a combination. Heres what i think of the above methods:
- 1.) Straight outta the bag is possibly my favourite of all time. There’s just nothing wrong with this method at all. Maximum flavour Maximum Heat!
- 2.) Taking them out of the paper makes them go cold quickly. This is something you’ll rarely catch me doing. Quickly cold food
- 3.) Putting the paper full of its greasy goodness onto a plate is alright in my opinion. Maximum flavour whilst keeping the cold plate seperate from the food. Good flavour, good heating
- 4.) An old favourite by people like my Nana and such. I don’t mind this way, but i often find myself getting burnt by the hot plate from the oven. Not to be attempted whilst drunk! Warning: Danger of getting burnt
Conclusion? My favourite is of course fish and chips straight outta the bag. If i couldn’t have that (which i have never come across) Then i’d have to choose the paper on a plate.

EDIT: I asked a friend whom i’ve known for over 10 years. His first reaction was “What the hell kind of question is that? and what have you been smoking”! Finally i got an answer out of him, he prefers his straight outta the paper and dumped on a plate.
