With the world and it’s brother having a some kind of secret love affair with Google’s Pagerank.  I was kind of curious to see how other sites and their owners managed through this most recent update.

Right now as speak, their are hundreds, if not thousands of threads across the forums of the webmaster world with webmasters (and webmistresses) freaking out or breaking open the champagne due to the update.  Are you one of these people? Do you know someone who is?

In case you didn’t know, pagerank is a system Google made up some time ago.  Basically its a little green bar at the top of most peoples browsers.  It doesn’t do very much in all honesty. Except of course make some people have a nervous breakdown, Whilst others celebrate joyfully.

For me, it’s just a cool bit of green bar that lives at the top of my site.  I won’t be having a nervous breakdown because of it. Nor will i be breaking out the champagne.  And in case you wondered, yes mine dropped. Read the rest of this entry »

As i’ve always been a big fan of Asian gameshows such as Ninja Warrior and Takeshi’s Castle. It’ not surprising that i’d love to see the following gameshow appear on UK Tv. This funny video of people trying to fit themselves into all kinds of stupid positions just brought me a little chuckle

Every now and again when i am out and about visiting places. I always spot some kind of custom company items. Whether it be mugs,mouse mats or even promotional note pads. I normally think to myself “How do i get my hands on one of their mugs/mouse mats?” But the other day was different, i started to think “I wonder if i could get myself some of those cool promotional itemss“.

It’s not like i have any actual usage for them. I just think they’d look cool. The only problem as always, Is having the ability to make up my mind. It’s a toss up between the imprinted bic pens, or some of the other cooler promotional ink pens. I suppose the outcome isn’t such a bother. They’ll both write after all. As they only come in boxes of 500, it looks like if i do decide to grab some. I’ll be able to give them away to people whilst on holiday. As they are imprinted bic pens, it’ll work as a bit of cheap advertising also.

Again it comes down to choices, do i choose the clear pens? or the black pens? Do i want blue ink or black ink? Hell i don’t even know myself, so it’ll probably come down to a quick game of eeny meeeny miny mo, which will decide the winner of the colour battle.

I also quite like the idea of having custom paper pads. My writing sucks, my drawing sucks, but isn’t scribbling just so much fun? Like when on the phone and other person is kinda boring you with a story of life that you have no remote interest in. Isn’t it great to have a pad of paper to scribble on and let your creative side flow? Well i think it is. It’s also cool for when you need to leave a note somewhere, once again it becomes free advertising. Just write a little note on a piece of your funky custom note pad and drop it off or give it to some one, They’ll read it and instantly know your web address (They might even keep it or pass it on to a friend.)

Of course i do need other reasons that aren’t of the cool variety. So other good reasons to get custom pens and other cool stuff. Is it helps to build brandability and brand recognition. Wouldn’t you remember a company who just so happened to give you a cool designed pen to keep? If you didn’t remember them straight away, after a few times of using their magically imprinted pen, you’ll never forget it.

Over the last few days, everybody across the globe has heard something about “the world ending” or a “Large Hadron Collider”. It’s been across the news everywhere and now that dust has settled and the world hasn’t ended. It’s now your chance to get something from all the panic.

The Royal Society of Chemistry has offered a £500 prize to anyone who can come up with a better name than it’s current rather descriptive name. Think exciting, think out of the box. Hell think out of this world as it might give you a bit of a better chance.

I gotta admit, large hadron collider doesn’t exactly sound catchy. Maybe something like “Big bang simulation, scare the world to death” or something equally as catchy :p .

So, think you’ve got a smart name for the LHC? Think you’ve got a chance at taking that £500 prize money? Look up the Royal institute of Chemistry and send them your idea.
