With the world and it’s brother having a some kind of secret love affair with Google’s Pagerank. I was kind of curious to see how other sites and their owners managed through this most recent update.
Right now as speak, their are hundreds, if not thousands of threads across the forums of the webmaster world with webmasters (and webmistresses) freaking out or breaking open the champagne due to the update. Are you one of these people? Do you know someone who is?
In case you didn’t know, pagerank is a system Google made up some time ago. Basically its a little green bar at the top of most peoples browsers. It doesn’t do very much in all honesty. Except of course make some people have a nervous breakdown, Whilst others celebrate joyfully.
For me, it’s just a cool bit of green bar that lives at the top of my site. I won’t be having a nervous breakdown because of it. Nor will i be breaking out the champagne. And in case you wondered, yes mine dropped.
One of the funniest things i saw whilst quickly looking over one of these such PR threads. Was a post by someone bragging about their SEO company. They got a PR2, which is great and all. But was it really worth the bragging when your job is supposed to be able to get that kind of rank easily and without effort? Hardly an incentive for any new customers to pop their heads up and join that’s for sure.
If PageRank is ruining your life, take a break and don’t get too caught up in the whole Page Rank thing. After all, it’s just a number and a name that Google created.
