I’ve been waiting to get divorced for ages now. In fact i started the proceedings almost 1 year ago.
The reason it’s took so long is because obtaining a marriage certificate from a different country to the one your residing in, Is kind of difficult. Communications and timezones makes things a little bit more difficult than just nipping down to your local government building.
Now if the plan had of gone ahead, and all went smoothly. Then my soon to be ex wife would of gotten hold of the necessary paperwork (She lives in the same town) and mailed it to my solicitor. But that would of been too simple.
Instead of the simplicity of driving less than 2 miles, obtaining the paperwork needed to divorce a man you no longer love or want to speak to. I’ve had to ring up another country numerous times to get the correct info. Wait for 4 months to see if the paperwork ever would arrive at my solicitors desk. After realizing that the paperwork wasn’t going to turn up. I finally sent off my detailed request to the Chesapeake Circuit Court.
It is today that my paperwork has arrived, and to be honest. I couldn’t be happier!
Why it’s took so long (other than the obvious waiting around as pointed out above) is beyond me. My ex has another sucker guy arriving to stay with her in a few weeks (It may even be days, who knows.) Why she didn’t want to be divorced before he got there so they can start fresh is beyond me.
Well, there is one reason……
It’s been suggested that the only reason she hasn’t helped this divorce along is because she wants to be able to say that her marriage lasted for x amount of years. Even though we would of only been together for a lesser amount of x years. In her mad mind, it stands to reason that if her marriage date is Sept16th 2004 and her divorce date is February 2009. Then her marriage lasted for 5 years.
Although in reality, we were only ever together for less than 2.
Finally my divorce is gunna go through. I honestly can’t wait.
