Its all about me!

How to choose a baby name?

So a couple of months back we found that my girl was pregnant. Great news!  The only thing thats no great is ever since we found out we having a baby, we just haven,t been able to agree on a name, nor come up with a name that we both really like.

Reading through lists of names and even popular websites like pampers and parentconnect still didn’t bring us what we were looking for, and they have thousands of names!!!!!

We’ve thought of family names, popular names, crazy names and even traditional names. None seem to be what we are looking for though, and we’re running out of time!

So how did you guys and girls come up with the name for your child? Was it difficult? Did you find yourself like us searching through hundreds if not thousands of names for the right one to give your child for the rest of his/her life?

Our baby boy is due in May this year (Next year would of been waaaay too far aay ;) )  It would be kinda nice to have a name chosen for him when he arrives, i don’t like the idea of calling him “Baby” for ages until our thinking caps have exploded.

Seems choosing a baby name is harder than what it seems.

Suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks

Dan

Tester for games – It could be you!

A couple of my friends who have always wanted to become a tester for games, recently had the breakthrough they had been looking for. They were invited by Sony to be a tester for games. Not just any games,  but some of the newest and unreleased PS3 games on the market.

Both of them had been applying for quite a while and both were pretty shocked to find out that they had been chosen, for many people it would of been a dream come true. (I know it was for them).

Do you share the same dream as them? Do you want to become a tester for games and get some of the newest titles free and before the stores get them?

Well there is a way.  In fact theres a couple of choices when it comes to becoming a tester for games on your favourite games machine, whether that be Wii,PS3,XBOX 360 or even the PC.

First thing is to make sure that the companies know your interested. Most have some kind of application form available. It’s just a case of finding them. (Alot are hidden away on the net, but they are out there.)

Second thing is to make sure you really want to do this. Try spending time logged into your account and reporting bugs to the manufacturers.  If you can get to understand you really do want to make the game better, then there’s a higher chance of them hiring you to become a tester for games they release.

If you need help getting in touch with the companies you want to be a tester for games for.   Then there’s an information pack available with contacts, addresses and more tips then i could list here.

Planning a trip to London? Here’s some tips

If your like us and planning a holiday sometime in the near future, then you’ll want to be in the know about the places your going. Or you may want to simply pick up some ideas of what to do once you arrive at your destination.  Whether it be a Christmas break or a New Year holiday, you’ll be sure to want to pick up some ideas of the local events. Unless of course you’ve been to the same location previously.

When we started out planning one of our holidays, we took a quick look at this travel idea blog for some ideas. The suggestions didn’t really suit us as much as it may suit other couples or groups who are planning time away.  Then again we weren’t going to any of the places on the list.

One of the places mentioned is the capital of my great country.  The London page has many resource and ideas for anyone wanting to visit this wonderful capital either in the winter, or the summer.  In fact if i had a friend coming over to stay with me in the UK and they asked me for advice on where to visit while in London. I’d point them towards this London advice page. Why? Because it’s full of info for any first time visitor to enjoy and make the most out of their trip to London.

If i’d of known about it all that time ago when i went to get my Son’s UK Passport from the passport office, i would of probably taken full advantage of this guide as i ain’t been to London since and have no return visits planned in the near future.  Unfortunately.

Wow My Friends Into LARP

I was talking to one of the guys who recently came on holiday with us to Amsterdam. It turns out he’s got a few hidden secrets up his sleeve.  Throughout the week he’s known as Jim. But on the weekend he’s known as Elf the Slayer.  Odd for some i know, but for him and his friends it’s quite an ordinary turn of events.

It turns out that my friend Jim has an alter ego, where by on the weekends and on certain weeks of the year he is Elf the Slayer and dresses up in all manner of LARP outfits and Larp costume armor.  If your into Live action role playing and all it offers, you’ll probably find all this just a bit odd.

It turns out that sometime in the new ear, my friend Elf the Slayer will be taking part in some other kind of holiday which is no where near the kind we went on recently. He’ll be settling down with other Elves and enjoying slaying Orc’s and whatever else comes his way.  Yes his plans are to stay at a LARP campsite. Somewhere that he’ll feel right at home in.

Live action roleplaying happens across the country, whether it be my country or your country. It’s everywhere!  You’ll find people close to you enjoy swinging a good rubber axe around, or taking part in something that most poeple would call wacky, odd, disturbing or just plain outrageous.

Live action roleplaying (Or LARP) is a great way to enjoy something similar to WoW and other online games. Only you get to do it for real. No need to wonder if the guy you just went up against is cheating, there’s a good chance he isn’t as there’s no computers involved.  It’s just a you versus him scenario.

Ultrasonic Parking Sensor – JML

Just spotted the JML ultrasonic parking sensor on TV, which to be honest is pretty cool if you ask me.

It’s perfect for anyone with an older model of car that doesn’t get one of these fancy parking sensors. Options before would of been to buy a new car, or ask a friend to stand behind you whilst reversing and hope you don’t run them over in the process.

It plugs into the cigarette lighter socket in the car, and attaches to the rear of the car. From the advert on tv, the JML ultrasonic parking sensor couldn’t be simpler to fit or use.

I tried visiting the site to get more info, but to be honest. It messed up in my browser and everything was overlapping and the info links weren’t clickable.

The JML ultrasonic parking sensor isn’t the only one on the market, there’s several on sites like Amazon,eBay and other stores online that are cheaper than the JML one.

All in all, a quick Google around should help you come to the decision that you either a.) Want and need a parking sensor. b.) You’d like one but don’t actually need one as yet.

It’s perfect as a Christmas gift, birthday gift or for anyone who has problems reversing their car.
