Just for a bit of fun. I thought i’d share with you guys and girls a couple of books i was once bought. It’s probably best not to use these books to insult the locals when your away on holiday. But it could be handy for knowing what the locals are saying about you!

Do you hate being on holiday and hearing people mutter in a foreign langauge that you just can’t understand? Ever wondered what they were saying? Now’s your chance to get the upper hand, with these books you will be able to silently understand what the waiter/waitress is saying about you.

Of course it also helps for when you just need to let a couple of offensive insults out to that really annoying guy who just won’t stop looking at your woman.

Personally i found the books to be an entertaining read, and are something i will be taking with me on my future holidays!

Have you wondered what to do when you get annoying telesales calls? Of course you could ask them to remove you from their list. But if the company your talking to didn’t take notice the first time then whats the chaces of them listening this time? Probably not very high. After all they are trying so hard to get you to sign with them that they don’t really want to leave you alone.

So what can you do? Personally i say have some fun with them. After all its your time they decided to waste. Why not waste some of theirs in return?

I got the idea quite some time ago from a friend of mine who had enough of teleasales harrassing him, Infact thinking about it. Most of my friends have had enough of these stupid phone calls. The idea my friend gave me was to sound all interested then say you had to answer the door. This is the point where you need to get them to hold as long as possible.

When you say you need to answer the door. Place the phone near a speaker or television. This generally only takes a few moments for the sales rep to realise your not interested and move along.

But what if you wanted even more fun? Well there are ways. Yesterday i was on skype to a friend and he got one of these annoying calls. Now my friend has a extremely funny sense of humour. So not only did it ensure the telesales marketer wouldn’t call back. It also provided fun and entertainment for me and my m8 who were on skype.

The call started with the woman asking if he was the home owner. He replied yes. She then went on about how his number and address were randomly picked and they could benefit from a new kitchen. But only if the kitchecn was over 10 years old. My friend saw his chance, grabbing it with both hands he said to her “Hang on i’ll just go and ask my kitchen how old it is.” The woman held for a while when suddenly my friend returned.

“I asked the kitchen cupboard its age. It claims its only 14, but i think it’s lying” He told her. She seemed kinda puzzled by his reply and asked “Is this a shared house?”. To which he replied ” No…. I live in a tent”. It didn’t take her long to decide that she was just wasting her time and she bid him farewell and hung up.  He only managed to waste a total of 5-8 minutes of her time. But it was enough that she should of put a mark against his number not to be called again. After all. Why waste even more of their time?

The list of things you can do to bug the sh*t outta telesales callers is longer than your arm.  If you do decide to have some fun with these callers. make sure to drop by and let us know what you did to wind them up.  I am pretty sure other readers will be interested and inspired by your ideas.

With the recent tax increase here in the UK. It seems that taking drugs is actually cheaper than going to the pub. Alright so taking drugs might be illegal, But its the direction that the government is pushing the people towards which is pretty shifty in my opinion.

Recently across the news, the government have been working hard to stop binge drinking and forcing supermarkets to stop selling low priced high alcohol beer. But with this recent tax hike, Surely more people will be looking to get a drink at their local supermarket and have a party at home. Rather than spending £3 – £4 a pint.

The Metro yesterday published a price comparison chart, where it shows the price of a pint compared to the price of various drugs. Here’s how it looked:

Price of a pint – Most of the UK £3. London £4

A pack of 20 cigarettes – £5.66 (Highest price i believe)

A line of cocaine – £3

Ecstasy Pill – £2.91

Line of speed – 63 pence

Hash (Resin) Spliff – 90 pence

Skunk (Weed) Spliff – £1.70

Hit of heroin – £3.50

It appears that if the net speed EVER reaches over at least 10mbps/ Then that’s your 20MBPS. It doesn’t matter if it never reaches that speed again. The point is that it has reached that speed at least once in its lifetime.

So although Virgin Media may advertise a 20mbps connection. You will never actually achieve it. I was told this by Michael Bradley at the broadband support.

The fastest connection i have had which lasted for a total of 25 seconds. was approximately 1400 kps Which by the maths of Michael Bradley is 14MBPS. Far from 20MBPS. But hey. Virgin Media don’t actually state you will ever get 20MBPS. They just say you can get ‘up to’ this speed. They also don’t tell you, that if your speed is below this on any other website/gaming/whatever. It doesn’t matter. As they say you will get these speeds form the Virgin Media network. A network which to be quite honest doesn’t interest me in the slightest.

Michael Bradley was supposed to call me back right away with his manager to speak to me. Which didn’t happen (Why doesn’t this surprise me in the slightest?) I called back 11:33 and spoke to a guy named Ian.

Now Ian seems quite smart. He explained to me that my speed is actually slower than it should be. And that there is a fault in my area. Not on my cable. But it is in my area. SO although it shouldn’t be affecting me. It might be. He raised a complaint to his managers and i should receive a call back from them with in 5 working days (Will it happen? I doubt it)

Ian was pretty pissed off with the whole thing. As he says it makes his job harder. He then advised me to call 150 and get the lack of customer support dealt with. Read the rest of this entry »
