Hoax Callers Will Pay for Their Pranks

The police of Singapore posted a sharp warning against hoax calls to its emergency inbound call center. The notice comes in four languages (English, Chinese, Tamil and Malay) and is expected to protect the local police from the false call incidents that have spread all over the country. According to the statistics, last year about 1.05 million of 1.62 million incoming police calls were nothing but hoaxes. Many warning posters will be put in primary schools and preschools to prevent prank calls among children. Singapore police stated that infringers abusing the hotline would be sentenced to a year imprisonment, a fine or both.

Channel 4 Live Ad A Success. Skydivers Safe

Yesterday was a pioneering moment for the head honchos over at channel 4.  Between Channel 4 and Honda, the two companies made a pioneering move to try and prevent TV watchers from switching over between shows.

The live commercial was shown at 8:10pm yesterday evening. Right in the commercial break for “Come dine with me”.   The jump was filmed live over Spain and all went well. Luckily enough we didn’t have to watch the skydivers collide with the earth at high impact.  Instead they managed to spell out “Honda” letter by letter in their limited time frame of 3 minutes 20 seconds.

After watching the jumpers clamber around the plane and finally jump,  it was easy to see there was no editing. Although there was a pre-recorded jump from the day before in case the weather went against the jumpers.

If your wanting to watch the advert yourself to see what its all about. Then good luck finding it.  It’s supposed to be available at Honda’s website. But i had no such luck finding it. I couldn’t find it on the channel 4 website either.  (Maybe they aren’t really that proud of it after all). I suppose YouTube will of course end up with it. (Don’t they end up with everything?)

EDIT: Found a clip of it on the BBC website. Watch it here!

A lil bit of fun with high payout games, mostly roulette!

If you’ve ever fancied a flutter or a little gamble. Then you’ve no doubt thought of playing in one of the many casinos online. The problem for me was that i just aren’t a gambling kinda person. But i do like the chances of winning a bit of money form time to time. I used to stick to just the basic games. Things like blackjack, and well…. blackjack! (Seriously not a gambling kind of person. :D )

That was until i came across high payout games. The site sent me in the right direction to further my knowledge in the casino field. Straight away after reading the first page i knew that none of those casino systems you see for sale all across the net would work.

It was on the high payout roulette page where i found the most information. After all, Roulette is a game of numbers and by understanding the basics of the game. It certainly helps you stack a few of the odds in your favour.

A quick example would be that i didn’t know the difference between euro and usa roulette. But by glancing over that page i could tell the difference easily. (And the benfits of choosing one over the other.)

So if you fancy a flutter and not sure what to do or where to go. Then High Payout Games could well save you some time and hassle.

I know they saved me some hassle.

Web N Walk, Mobile Internet and ….. Dongles!

Mobile internet has been getting bigger and bigger over the years here in the UK. Unlike the USA where mobile internet and video calling took off far better than here.

It seems that the new ‘Mobile Modem’ could be here to stay with lots of early adopters and thousands more expected to follow in the coming months. But whats the deal with all this fang dangled dongley technology? Well i am far from an expert on this subject but i do find it interesting.

Having used my sister in-laws laptop with one of these dongles attached i was quite surprised at the speeds it gave. I think if my memory serves me right it was one of the 3G network dongles.

The download speeds weren’t great. But considering i thought it was going to be like using dial up again. I was happy. The test file downloaded from my server at just over 85kbps. Far better than the 12kbps i was expecting.

The upload wasn’t exactly great, but hey who cares when you can sit in a field and get on the net.

3G isn’t the only network thats offering Web n Walk. So its best to shop around before committing to anything in the world of mobile internet. Different providers will have different packages with higher bandwidth limits.

Another thing to remember before signing up is check out what the costs are. By that i don’t mean costs per month. But costs for if you go over your bandwidth allowance. As although the per month cost may be low. The extra charges may be crippling in the long run.

Kodak Cameras Eat Batteries For Breakfast!

So in the last year we have had two Kodak cameras. Which to start with made us very happy. But the happiness didn’t last long.

We first bought a Kodak Camera from Argos just around the corner. It worked great for the first few weeks, the picture quality was cool, the batteries didn’t die within just a few photos.  It was perfect……. Or so we thought.

After a couple of months the camera started to use batteries quicker and quicker. Until it got to the pont where even with new batteries in it it wouldn’t power up. Of course this led us to take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement or for it to be fixed.

For one reason or another, they wouldn’t replace it. Instead they insisted it had to be repaired by the manufactuer. We figured ok sure thing. So off it went on a trip round the UK. Leaving us cameraless for over 2 weeks of summer.

Time passed and eventually we got a call that camera was repaired and back at the local shop. So off i went to get it. Rather excited at the idea of being able to take more photos. It only took 5 mins to get there and 5 mins to get back. I bought brand new batteries and looked around for something to photo. I spotted what i wanted. A nice scenic photo of the area.

In goes the batteries, I get myself lined up for the photo i want to take,  Then i press the power button and wait…….and wait……. and wait. Its at about this time i realized they hadn’t fixed the camera at all! I doubt they even took it out of the packaging to look at it.

So back to the shop i went.

After telling them all about what had happened, the manageress tells me that they don’t have more of those cameras and i would have to choose another worth the same amount. Well as it turns out. The only one they have in stock at the same price is yet another Kodak camera. So i choose that one and come back home.

Its been almost a year and this Kodak camera is doing the exact same thing the other one did. New batteries last for all of 3 photos and thats without using the flash!

We certainly plan on buying a new camera either before christmas or just afterwards, and theres one thing for sure. It won’t be a Kodak!
