Its all about me!

Fun with telesales calls

Have you wondered what to do when you get annoying telesales calls? Of course you could ask them to remove you from their list. But if the company your talking to didn’t take notice the first time then whats the chaces of them listening this time? Probably not very high. After all they are trying so hard to get you to sign with them that they don’t really want to leave you alone.

So what can you do? Personally i say have some fun with them. After all its your time they decided to waste. Why not waste some of theirs in return?

I got the idea quite some time ago from a friend of mine who had enough of teleasales harrassing him, Infact thinking about it. Most of my friends have had enough of these stupid phone calls. The idea my friend gave me was to sound all interested then say you had to answer the door. This is the point where you need to get them to hold as long as possible.

When you say you need to answer the door. Place the phone near a speaker or television. This generally only takes a few moments for the sales rep to realise your not interested and move along.

But what if you wanted even more fun? Well there are ways. Yesterday i was on skype to a friend and he got one of these annoying calls. Now my friend has a extremely funny sense of humour. So not only did it ensure the telesales marketer wouldn’t call back. It also provided fun and entertainment for me and my m8 who were on skype.

The call started with the woman asking if he was the home owner. He replied yes. She then went on about how his number and address were randomly picked and they could benefit from a new kitchen. But only if the kitchecn was over 10 years old. My friend saw his chance, grabbing it with both hands he said to her “Hang on i’ll just go and ask my kitchen how old it is.” The woman held for a while when suddenly my friend returned.

“I asked the kitchen cupboard its age. It claims its only 14, but i think it’s lying” He told her. She seemed kinda puzzled by his reply and asked “Is this a shared house?”. To which he replied ” No…. I live in a tent”. It didn’t take her long to decide that she was just wasting her time and she bid him farewell and hung up.  He only managed to waste a total of 5-8 minutes of her time. But it was enough that she should of put a mark against his number not to be called again. After all. Why waste even more of their time?

The list of things you can do to bug the sh*t outta telesales callers is longer than your arm.  If you do decide to have some fun with these callers. make sure to drop by and let us know what you did to wind them up.  I am pretty sure other readers will be interested and inspired by your ideas.

Telesales strike again

If your like me and fed up of telesales and recorded messages ringing you. Then you can understand how frustrating it is when your waiting for an actual phone call form someone you really know.

Today is one of those days that they just wish they never called.

Heres how it goes.

I was sat here minding my own business waiting for the phone to ring. Alas it rang. ‘Yayyy’ i thought. But no. It was an auto recorded message. We get lots of these messages but i actually listened to this one as it pissed me off.

It was something to do with mortgage arrears and mortgage troubles. After the automatic voice stopped jabbering on. It informed me if pressed 2 on my phonepad i would be able to get help with my troubles! “Wow i thought. An end to my troubles?“  So i promptly pressed 2.

I was greeted by a guys voice who asked if i wanted help with my mortgage troubles. I replied “Hello, i got an automatic message saying you could help me with my troubles. I am interested.”  The guy must of been drooling when i said i wanted his help because he wasted no time in repeating his first question. “So do you have troubles with your mortgage Sir?” the voice repeated. “No mate, i have troubles with automatic messages wasting my time all day long and i want to be removed from your database.”

He stopped being of use then and hung up.

Unfortunately for me i didn’t get the companies name (The guy just didn’t want to tell me it!)

Now i dunno where these companies are getting our number from. But we get at least 3 calls a day from such companies. Do we have mortgage troubles? No we live in a rented flat. Are we the home owners? No.

So why do they keep on calling? And why wouldn’t the last guy remove me from his database?

Bad business practises, all i want is for my name and number to be removed from a  spam list.
